Ayodhya is not just a city. It is the heart of Hindu civilization, the sacred birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, the Maryada Purushottam – the ideal man and king. For thousands and thousands of years, long before any other religion existed, Ayodhya has belonged completely to Hindus. This land has seen the footsteps of God himself. Hindus have protected this holy place with their blood, their devotion, and their lives for centuries. This is the beginning of our story – a story of unmatched glory, deep love for Dharma, and the painful struggles Hindus faced to guard what is theirs.
Shri Ram – The Soul of Ayodhya
Lord Shri Ram was born in Ayodhya in the Treta Yuga. Hindus believe this happened more than 10,000 years ago. The great sage Valmiki wrote the Ramayana, describing Ayodhya as a beautiful, prosperous, and holy city ruled by the Suryavanshi kings.
- Wide roads
- Clean rivers
- Golden palaces
- Temples where Vedic chants filled the air
People lived happily under Ram’s rule – a time known as Ram Rajya, where truth, justice, and dharma ruled. Shri Ram is not just a king or a hero for Hindus. He is God in human form. He shows us how to live with honor, love our family, protect the weak, and follow duty. Every Hindu child grows up hearing “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” and dreaming of Ayodhya.
Even today, when Hindus say “Jai Shri Ram”, their hearts fill with pride and devotion. Ayodhya is not a tourist spot. It is our spiritual home. The exact place where Shri Ram was born – the Ram Janmabhoomi – has been worshipped by Hindus since time immemorial.
Ayodhya – A Living Temple for Millennia
For over 10,000 years, Hindus built and protected grand temples at Ram Janmabhoomi. Pilgrims from every corner of Bharat came here to pray. The city had many ashrams, ghats on the Sarayu river, and temples dedicated to Shri Ram, his family, and his devoted vanara army led by Hanumanji.
Hindus did not just visit Ayodhya. They lived their faith here. They sang bhajans, performed yagnas, and passed down the Ramayana from generation to generation. This land shaped Hindu culture, values, and identity. Kings from different dynasties – from ancient times through the Gupta and later periods – built, repaired, and protected these temples. Hindus saw protecting Ayodhya as protecting Dharma itself.
This glory existed for thousands of years before Islam was even born in 610 AD in Arabia. Hindus had no connection to Mecca or Medina. Those places mean nothing in Hindu scriptures. Ayodhya, on the other hand, is the foundation of our faith. It belongs 100% to Hindus and only to Hindus. There is no question about it.
Archaeological Evidence – Proof Carved in Stone
We do not need to depend only on faith. Science and archaeology also prove that a grand Hindu temple stood at Ram Janmabhoomi long before any mosque.
In 2003, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) carried out careful excavations at the site. What they found was clear evidence of a massive Hindu temple:
- More than 50 pillar bases arranged in a temple pattern
- Beautiful carved pillars with Hindu symbols like lotus flowers, chakra (discus), and trident
- Pieces of sculptures showing Hindu gods and goddesses
- Temple-like structure with a sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha)
- Inscriptions in ancient scripts mentioning “Sri Rama” and temple-related activities
- Northern Black Polished Ware pottery from even earlier periods
- Layers from Kushan and Gupta periods (1st to 6th century AD) showing continuous Hindu worship
All these remains clearly belong to a grand Hindu temple that was destroyed to build the Babri structure in 1528. The temple was much older – parts of it went back more than 1,000 to 2,000 years before the Islamic invasion. The ASI report left no doubt: this was Ram Janmabhoomi, a living Hindu sacred site for centuries.
These pillars and inscriptions are not just stones. They are the voice of our ancestors shouting that this land always belonged to Shri Ram and his devotees.
The Deep Love and Sacrifice of Hindus
From the beginning, Hindus understood that protecting Ayodhya meant protecting their entire way of life. Invaders could come and go, but the devotion to Shri Ram never died. Generation after generation, Hindu saints, kings, and common people guarded this sacred land.
They faced many challenges even before the big invasions. Yet they kept the flame of bhakti alive. They performed puja on the chabutras (platforms) near the temple remains. They told stories of Ram to their children. They refused to forget.
This shows the power of Hindu dharma. It is not a new religion. It is Sanatan – eternal. It has survived because of the love and sacrifice of ordinary Hindus who saw Shri Ram as their own.
Why This Glory Matters Today
When we remember the ancient glory of Ayodhya, our hearts fill with pride. We realize how rich and divine our culture is. Shri Ram’s Ayodhya gave the world lessons in ideal rulership, family values, and devotion. No other place on earth can claim this.
But this pride also brings pain when we think about what happened later. For thousands of years Hindus protected this land with their lives. Yet foreign invaders tried to snatch it away. The coming episodes will show how Islamic forces attacked this holy place, how they built a mosque on our temple, and how Hindus fought back for 500 years – through courts, protests, sacrifices, and finally divine justice.
Hindus have been brainwashed for decades by movies, textbooks, and media that showed our culture as backward and Mughal invaders as great. But the truth is the opposite. Our culture is ancient, beautiful, and far superior in its depth and wisdom. Ayodhya proves it.
A Call to Every Hindu Heart
Close your eyes and imagine Ayodhya in its ancient days – the sound of temple bells, the fragrance of flowers offered to Ram Lalla, the peaceful Sarayu river, and devotees chanting “Jai Shri Ram” with tears of love.
That same devotion still burns in millions of Hindu hearts. The struggle to reclaim Ram Janmabhoomi was never just about land. It was about protecting our Dharma, our identity, and our self-respect.
