Sonam Wangchuk is often shown in media as a climate hero, education reformer, and the real-life inspiration for the character Rancho in the movie 3 Idiots. But many facts and government actions paint a different picture. He is not an innovator or scientists, but someone who creates unrest in sensitive border areas, misuses funds, and puts India’s sovereignty at risk in Ladakh. Here is a clear breakdown.
Not the Scientist the Movie Showed
- The movie 3 Idiots portrayed Rancho (Phunsukh Wangdu) as a genius with over 400 patents. Many people thought this was based on Wangchuk.
- Reality: Wangchuk has zero patents on his name. He is a mechanical engineer, not a top scientist. His work like Ice Stupas is practical but not the revolutionary patented inventions shown in the film.
- Critics say the movie makers helped build a larger-than-life “scientist” image that hid his other activities.
Family Background and Political Links
- Wangchuk comes from a wealthy, politically connected family.
- His father, Sonam Wangyal, was a minister in the Jammu & Kashmir government from the Congress party.
- Many who create problems for India often have similar old Congress links. Even the lawyers who appeared in the court on his ex-wife’s behalf are from Congress.
Sonam Wangchuk’s Direct Anti-National Statements
Wangchuk has made statements that weaken India’s position against China:
- He openly discussed a scenario where, if China tries to enter India through Ladakh, locals will not stop them but will show them the way. This is dangerous talk in a border area facing real Chinese threats.
- He has repeatedly used speeches referencing the Arab Spring, Nepal’s Gen Z protests, and Bangladesh-style unrest provoking civil unrest in India.
- Such words create alienation among border communities who should stand strong with the Indian Army. This harms national security and plays into the hands of India’s enemies.
- His protests and demands come at a time when border security is critical.
These are not opinions — these are things he has said on record.
Confirmed FCRA Violations by His NGO SECMOL
The Ministry of Home Affairs cancelled the FCRA licence of SECMOL (Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh), Wangchuk’s main NGO. FCRA controls foreign money to protect India from outside interference. The government found clear violations after a show-cause notice and his reply. Key violations include:
- Foreign funds for sovereignty issues: SECMOL received Rs 4.93 lakh from a Swedish organisation (Framtidsjorden) for workshops on youth migration, climate, food security, and sovereignty of the country. Foreign money cannot be used for topics related to national sovereignty. This is against national interest and a direct violation of FCRA Section 12(4).
- Mixing local funds into FCRA account: In 2020-21, Rs 54,600 of Indian local money (from three people, Rs 18,200 each) was deposited into the special foreign funds account. This violates Section 17.
- Irregular deposit by Wangchuk: In 2021-22, Wangchuk deposited Rs 3.5 lakh into the FCRA account. The organisation claimed it was from selling an old bus, but records showed inconsistencies. It was treated as a donation from him without proper FCRA account reflection, violating Sections 17 and 18.
- Other account problems: Failure to deposit foreign funds properly, returning money to donors (Rs 19,600 case), and poor maintenance of accounts with undeclared or mismatched transactions (including Rs 79,200). These breach multiple sections of FCRA.
The government examined SECMOL’s reply and rejected it. These violations are established facts, not disputes. Similar issues exist with his other organisations like HIAL.
A Pattern of Problems
- Communist-style activism: Repeated attempts to create division and unrest in Ladakh.
- Threat to sovereignty: Working on issues and taking funds that touch national security matters in a border area.
- Double standards: Portrayed as a saint doing good work, while government actions show financial violations and provocative actions.
Not a Saint, But a Concern for National Security
Sonam Wangchuk is no ordinary activist. He is not neither innovator nor scientists, the bigger picture shows a man from a political family whose actions, funding issues, and protests threaten India’s control and peace in Ladakh.
The cancellation of his NGO’s foreign funding licence, probes into money matters, and detention are not random. They point to real risks in a sensitive region. India must stay alert to such figures who mix development talk with unrest that helps India’s enemies.
Ladakh and India deserve real development and security – not endless protests that weaken the nation from inside. Nation first should guide how we see people like Sonam Wangchuk.
India needs strong Anti-National Laws.
Wangchuk’s Role in Current CJP Protests: Creating More Unrest
Sonam Wangchuk is once again active in Delhi. He joined the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests at Jantar Mantar with an indefinite hunger strike. These protests started over NEET paper leak issues but quickly turned into a bigger political attack on the government.
Many genuine students and supporters left the protests. They said the leaders diverted the focus from NEET paper leaks to unrelated political demands. Some CJP participants themselves admitted that without free food, no one would come to the site. Crowds gather mainly for the free meals served daily. Some people even eat while claiming to be on hunger strike.
WHERE IS THE FUNDING COMING FROM to feed so many people for free day after day? This looks like a planned way to attract and hold crowds, not a real student movement.
- JNU students have also complained they are being forced to bunk college and join the protest.
- The protest has now gone even further — with open demands for restoration of Article 370, turning it into a full political campaign against the government’s decisions on Jammu & Kashmir.
- They are demanding release of terrorists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam who are in the prison.
- They are demanding “Ban Great Nicobar Project”
- They are demanding “No development in Ladakh”
- They are demanding “No amendment in FCRA”
Slogans Raised in CJP Protests and How Students Are Being Misguided
The CJP protests are not limited to NEET paper leaks. Protesters raised slogans demanding restoration of Article 370, release of terrorists like Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, ban on the Great Nicobar Project, no development in Ladakh, and no amendments to FCRA. These demands have nothing to do with exam leaks. Many students are being misguided through WhatsApp groups and chats discussing “Nepal-like protests” to create bigger unrest. Some participants openly talk about repeating the Bangladesh and Nepal script in India.
How is all of this related to NEET Paper Leak or Students or Education?
Deep State Assets & Investigation Call
Wangchuk, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, and others like Arvind Kejriwal are seen as deep state assets funded through networks linked to George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. A deeper FCRA and ED investigation into their funding is urgently needed. India must remain wary of major Western powers (US, UK, EU, France, Germany, etc.) who often operate through such channels to create internal instability.
Real Target: Education Reforms and Nationalist Changes
The demand for the Education Minister’s resignation is not mainly about NEET paper leaks. Paper leaks happened many times before 2014 during Congress rule too. The real anger is that the Minister is changing school syllabi. He is removing the old glorification of islamic invaders and putting forward the true history of India — heroes like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Ahilyabai Holkar.
This is a direct attack on the efforts to correct distorted history taught for decades. Wangchuk and his allies want to stop this nationalist correction in education.
Why Did Sonam Wangchuk Become a Full-Time Protester After 2014?
Sonam Wangchuk was not always against development. After 2014, when the new government came to power and started pushing big infrastructure projects in Ladakh, he slowly turned into a full-time protester. He now strongly opposes roads, tunnels, and other development works in the region, claiming they harm the environment. Critics point to the Ladakh 2025 Vision Document and similar plans as the trigger — he sees them as threats instead of opportunities for local growth.
His foreign visits also raised many questions. He participated in events like the Breathe Pakistan International Climate Conference, which raised eyebrows given the sensitive border location of Ladakh. There are ongoing investigations into his funding, foreign trips, and the money flowing into his NGOs.
The man who had Vision for Ladakh Development, is now suddenly against its development. He knew this drama will work because Congress was never a pro-development government, but public took such crap seriously at that time. But now the TRUTH IS EXPOSED). Now there is a government who is genuinely developing Ladakh and Sonam Wangchuk is against it. How did this U-Turn happen? Well, now you know the truth.
Today, his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar with the CJP protest is part of the same pattern — mixing local issues with larger political attacks. This shift from innovator to constant agitator after 2014 fits the bigger picture of creating unrest in sensitive areas.
FCRA & NGOs
The Real Fight: FCRA Bill and Foreign-Funded NGOs
The CJP protest is not truly about NEET — it is about stopping the FCRA bill. If the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026 is passed in Parliament (discussion starting July 20), more than 55% of NGOs involved in anti-India activities will lose funding and may SHUT DOWN.
Sonam Wangchuk already lost his FCRA licence for SECMOL and has two NGOs. Film stars like Shabana Azmi (chairperson of ActionAid, which receives ₹85-100 crore foreign funds yearly) and Prakash Raj are joining because they have links with such NGOs. The bill will seize assets if registrations lapse and bar foreign funds for proselytization. This is why there is so much resistance from Congress and certain groups.
Why did Sonam Wangchuk quietly go to Pakistan and then the United States just before all this? USA connection is found everywhere. Recently, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Kolkata on May 23, 2026, instead of landing in Delhi and meeting Government officers. Rubio’s first stop was the Mother House, the headquarters of Saint Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity – A hub of criminal activities and conversion. Wife Rebecca Norman and the American Connection
Sonam Wangchuk’s ex-wife Rebecca Norman is an American who graduated from the School for International Training (known for producing intelligence-linked operatives). In 1991 she came to remote Ladakh, joined SECMOL, worked closely with Wangchuk, married him, and lived there for nearly 10 years before returning to the US. As soon as she joined him, funding from the Ford Foundation (often called a CIA offshoot) started flowing in. Timing is so convenient. She didn’t pursue opportunities in the US. Instead, she travelled to India and joined SECMOL in remote Ladakh. And Sonam Wangchuk started receiving the Funding from Ford Foundation.
Every trace of this chapter has been carefully erased from public records. It looks like she was sent on a mission, she finished her assignment and left to US after completing it.
Ashoka Foundation: The Deep State Network Grooming Activists
Ashoka Foundation (Ashoka: Innovators for the Public) is a key player in this game. It was started in 1980 by Bill Drayton, a former McKinsey consultant. Since then, it has been selecting and funding thousands of “social entrepreneurs” and changemakers worldwide, including in India.
Ashoka works like a grooming factory. It identifies talented young people, gives them fellowships, global exposure, and money. Later these same people pop up in protests and movements. Many activists linked to Sonam Wangchuk’s circle and similar unrest have Ashoka connections. The foundation is heavily funded by Western donors, including Ford Foundation (long accused of being a CIA front).
This is not charity. It is a systematic network that prepares assets for future use — exactly like how Yunus was groomed in Bangladesh. Ashoka has been active in India for decades, pumping money into NGOs and individuals who later lead or support anti-development and anti-government protests.
Sonam Wangchuk and people around him fit this pattern perfectly. A full investigation into Ashoka Foundation’s funding trails in India is overdue.
Ford Foundation: Long Accused CIA Front
The Ford Foundation has deep historical ties to the CIA. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was one of the main channels used by the CIA to fund cultural, academic, and activist groups worldwide without direct government fingerprints. Declassified documents and investigations (including by the US Congress) have shown that the Foundation worked closely with CIA operatives to promote American interests, fight communism, and shape global narratives.
Even today, many see it as a key tool in the deep state toolkit — funding NGOs, “democracy” projects, and social entrepreneurs who later become useful in regime change or destabilisation operations. Ford Foundation money has flowed into India for decades through various channels, including groups linked to Ashoka and similar networks.
This is not coincidence. It is how influence is built quietly over years.
Connecting the Dots: The Bangladesh Script
Wangchuk’s actions fit a larger pattern. Deep state forces tried a similar script in Bangladesh to topple the government through protests. The same forces appear to be pushing unrest in India — using student issues, free food to gather crowds, and turning protests political. Wangchuk’s repeated references to Nepal and Bangladesh-style movements are not a coincidence. They show the plan to create division and instability across India.
Repeating the Bangladesh Script: How Student Protests Become Tools for Regime Change
The events in Bangladesh in 2024 show exactly how these operations work. It started as student protests over job quotas at universities. What began as a local issue quickly turned into massive unrest that forced Sheikh Hasina out of power. She had to flee to India. Hasina openly said the US was behind her removal because she refused to give them a military base on Saint Martin’s Island. She named networks linked to George Soros and his allies as key players.
There is a leaked Whatsapp chat I found on internet (image below) that says “Tomorrow will be the last day of Modi Government”. Do you see the pattern, Regime change succeeded in Bangladesh and Nepal. In India they are trying to do the same. This CJP Protests have nothing to do with NEET Paper leak or Students.
Muhammad Yunus, the man who became the head of the interim government, is a classic example of deep Western grooming. He received a Fulbright scholarship to study in the US in the 1970s at Vanderbilt University. Over the decades, he built extremely strong personal and professional ties with top American figures — including former President Bill Clinton (who invited him to Arkansas in the 1980s to replicate his microfinance model), Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, and Tony Blair. These connections opened doors to massive international support, awards, and funding. He was given the Nobel Peace Prize and America’s highest civilian honour, the Congressional Gold Medal. Yunus became the perfect bridge between Western elites and local influence — the ideal puppet to lead the new setup after the regime change.
These links helped him gain instant international support after the change in power.
The protests were not purely organic. Funding and support came through various NGOs and networks. Some reports point to connections with the Gates Foundation and Soros-linked groups that have worked in Bangladesh for years on education, health, and civil society projects. Talented students often get scholarships to the West, creating long-term influence. This pattern turns genuine local anger into a tool for bigger geopolitical goals.
Nepal Protests in 2025 – Same Bangladesh Script Repeated
Not just Bangladesh, they repeated the same script in Nepal also. The mass protests in Nepal (often called the “Gen Z” protests) initially began on September 8, 2025, sparked by the government’s sudden nationwide ban on major social media platforms and messaging apps and there was a change in Nepal government / Power. Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned and Supreme Court Chief Justice Sushila Karki took over the interim government. USA was most pleased with this because they succeeded in this. Sushila Karki led the interim government for approximately 6 months to stabilize the nation and oversee fresh elections. After Karki’s transitional government, Balen Shah assumed office as the Prime Minister of Nepal on March 27, 2026.
Balen Shah has always been anti-India and USA wants to use our neighbors to destabilize India. In 2023, Balen Shah protested India’s “Akhand Bharat” mural by installing a map of Greater Nepal in his mayoral office.
Diplomatic Friction: Following his election as Prime Minister, his administration reportedly refused to meet with India’s Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, demanding a meeting with an official of equal stature.
Border Dispute Remarks: In June 2026, he made comments in parliament suggesting that Nepal had “also encroached India’s territories in many places,” calling for technical experts and historians from both sides to resolve the issue.
Since the Nepal protests, India-Nepal relations are not as good as it used to be earlier.
This shows how a small trigger (social media ban) is used to ignite bigger anti-government chaos. The Bangladesh script — start with students, escalate with violence, target the leader — worked again in Nepal.
The Modus Operandi: Repeated Attempts in India Since 2020
Deep state forces have tried the same script many times in India but failed every time because of strong public support for the government and better law enforcement:
- Farmers Protest (2020-2021): Started as a genuine demand but was prolonged with outside support and actors. It was used to create division and try to destabilise the government.
- Vote Chori (Election Rigging) Campaigns: Repeated claims during elections to create doubt and unrest.
- I Love Mohammad Campaign and similar divisive efforts: Attempts to polarise society on religious lines.
- Ladakh Protests: Sonam Wangchuk-led agitations in a sensitive border area, mixing local demands with anti-development and provocative statements.
- Now CJP Protests (2026): Started over NEET paper leaks but quickly diverted to political demands, Article 370 restoration, and attacks on education reforms and release of terrorist from the prison.
In every case, the pattern is the same: use a real issue (paper leak, farm laws, etc.), mobilise youth with free food and funding, divert to bigger anti-government goals, and hope for Bangladesh/Nepal-style collapse. So far, India has resisted because people see through the game.
These attempts show a clear modus operandi — not direct, but connected through networks, funding, and foreign influence. India must stay alert and keep connecting the dots to protect its sovereignty.
Why This Matters for India
Sonam Wangchuk’s actions in India follow the same playbook. He joins student-focused protests like the CJP movement at Jantar Mantar. What starts with exam issues quickly shifts to broader anti-government demands. Free food keeps crowds coming. References to Nepal and Bangladesh-style unrest are not accidental. They signal the same script — use youth anger, funded mobilisation, and political diversion to create instability.
Global affairs are not simple. Behind public images of foundations and awards, complicated networks operate. Not everything happens openly. India must stay alert. What happened in Bangladesh — starting from student protests and ending in regime change — is the exact model being tested here. Wangchuk and similar figures play their part in this larger game. India’s sovereignty and unity are the real targets.
They tried the same with the Farmer’s protest 2020-2021 and more but failed miserably. Well, clearly Bangladesh script is failing in India since 2020.
