The fight for Ram Janmabhoomi was not only against historical invaders. Even after independence, Hindus faced continuous torture from their own governments. This was perhaps the most painful betrayal. Governments elected by the Hindu majority repeatedly sided against Hindus to protect Muslim vote banks. They used police, courts, and media as weapons. This episode reveals the dark face of pseudo-secularism and the terrible suffering ordinary Hindus endured while trying to protect their Dharma.
The Policy of Appeasement – Hindus as Second-Class Citizens
After 1947, India claimed to be a secular country. In reality, it practiced blatant Muslim appeasement. Successive governments, especially Congress, treated Hindu demands for Ram Janmabhoomi as a “communal” problem while giving special treatment to Muslim groups.
- Special laws and benefits were given to Muslims.
- Hindu temples remained under government control while mosques were left free.
- Any Hindu assertion was immediately labeled as “majoritarianism” and dangerous.
This pseudo-secularism was not neutrality. It was active discrimination against the Hindu majority in their own land. Hindus, who had already suffered for centuries under Islamic rule, now faced a new enemy — their own elected governments.
The 1990 Massacre Under Mulayam Singh Yadav
As mentioned earlier, the worst state violence came in 1990 under Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government in Uttar Pradesh. He had promised to protect the Babri Masjid “at any cost.” When lakhs of kar sevaks marched peacefully towards Ayodhya, Mulayam ordered the police to open fire.
Unarmed Hindus were shot like animals. Many were killed on the spot. Many more were injured and left to die without medical help. The police did not just fire — they beat kar sevaks with lathis, dragged them, and humiliated them. Dead bodies were hidden. Families were not even given proper information. This was state-sponsored murder of Hindu devotees who only wanted to serve Shri Ram.
Mulayam became a hero for one community and a villain for Hindus forever. His government showed that in “secular” India, Hindu lives were cheap.
Post-1992 Repression and Witch-Hunt Against Hindus
After the justified demolition on December 6, 1992, the Central Government under P.V. Narasimha Rao and later governments launched a massive crackdown on Hindus:
- Thousands of kar sevaks were arrested and thrown into jails.
- Leaders of VHP, RSS, and BJP were targeted with false cases.
- Hindu organizations were banned temporarily.
- Police raided ashrams and temples looking for “evidence.”
- Many young men spent months and years in prison without proper trials.
The government acquired the land through the 1993 Ayodhya Acquisition Act, but instead of giving it to Hindus immediately, they used it to delay justice. Cases were filed against hundreds of Hindus while Muslim leaders who had openly threatened violence were handled softly.
This was pure torture. Families were destroyed. Young boys who had gone to Ayodhya with pure devotion returned as “criminals” with police records. Many lost jobs. Many faced social boycotts. The system punished Hindus for reclaiming their own sacred land while the original invaders who destroyed the temple were never held accountable.
Daily Humiliation and Police Brutality
Hindus faced continuous harassment at every level:
- Peaceful processions and Ram Nam Sankirtans were stopped with lathi charges.
- Saints and sadhus were beaten and dragged on roads.
- In many cities, police used tear gas and water cannons on women and children participating in peaceful protests.
- Local Hindu leaders were threatened and forced to withdraw support for the temple.
In contrast, Muslim groups were allowed to hold aggressive rallies and issue open threats. The message from the government was loud and clear: “Keep Hindus under control. Keep Muslims happy.”
This double standard broke the hearts of millions. Hindus felt like orphans in their own country. They had voted for these governments. They paid taxes. Yet they were treated worse than outsiders.
The Role of Media and Intellectuals in Torturing Hindu Psyche
The worst torture was not physical — it was mental.
Big media houses, Bollywood, and leftist intellectuals ran a vicious campaign:
- They called kar sevaks “fanatics” and “goons.”
- They showed the demolition as a “national shame” but never highlighted 500 years of Hindu suffering.
- They repeatedly interviewed Muslim leaders as “victims” while ignoring Hindu pain.
- School textbooks glorified Mughal invaders and downplayed temple destructions.
This brainwashing was deliberate. For decades, Hindus were made to feel guilty for loving Shri Ram. Children grew up thinking their own faith was backward and violent. Movies showed Mughal kings as cultured while Hindu saints fighting for temples were ignored or shown negatively.
Many Hindus started feeling ashamed of their own culture. They began apologizing for their existence. This psychological torture was perhaps the most dangerous because it attacked the soul of Hindu society.
The Bollywood’s brainwashing goes on even today. Even after 26/11 attack, they were protecting Pakistan and even made a movie “My Name is Khan and I am not a Terrorist” to brainwash everyone. Nothing has changed when it comes to media houses and entertainment industry.
How Hindus Were Made Victims in Their Own Majority Country
Think about the bitter truth:
- Hindus are over 80% of India’s population.
- Yet they had to fight court cases for their own God’s birthplace.
- They had to face police bullets for demanding their sacred land.
- They had to watch governments bend rules to please the minority.
This was the ultimate humiliation. After surviving Islamic invasions, Hindus were now being tortured by democratic governments through appeasement politics. Families lost sons. Mothers cried alone. Young men rotted in jails. All because they wanted to build a temple for Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram.
The pain was unbearable. Many Hindus lost faith in the system. Some became angry and hopeless. But the true devotees turned that pain into even stronger determination.
The Sacrifice and Resilience of Common Hindus
Despite all the torture, common Hindus did not break. They continued donating small amounts for the temple. They kept chanting “Jai Shri Ram” in their homes. They taught their children the real history. Mothers lit lamps for the martyrs. This silent suffering and unbreakable spirit is the real beauty of Hindu Dharma.
They protected their faith not with power but with love, patience, and tears. This is what makes the eventual victory so emotional and meaningful.
Awakening from Decades of Brainwashing
When we look back, we feel deep anger and sadness. We were fooled for so long. Movies, media, and textbooks made us see our own heroes as villains and invaders as great rulers. They made us feel inferior about our ancient culture.
The governments, police, and media that tortured Hindus for demanding their own land must never be forgotten. This history should fill every Hindu with resolve — never again should we allow our Dharma to be insulted in our own country.
The long night of torture and betrayal finally led to the dawn of justice. But the scars remain. They remind us of the price Hindus paid to protect Shri Ram’s birthplace.
